EPS Exploration

Overview

The EPS Exploration profile is built for deeper earnings-per-share research across liquid common shares. It brings together historical EPS growth, forward analyst expectations, long-term averages, and MarketAlpha ratings so you can study how earnings momentum is developing across different timeframes.

This profile is useful when you want to compare recent quarterly performance with forward expectations, identify improving or weakening earnings trends, and separate durable earnings leaders from names with only short-lived momentum.

info

This profile updates in real time and includes only common shares with a Liquidity Rating above 70, helping you focus on stocks with meaningful participation and reliable price discovery.

Strategy Focus

  • Explore historical and forward EPS growth across recent and upcoming quarters
  • Identify stocks with accelerating or decelerating earnings momentum
  • Compare EPS Rating with actual and forecasted EPS growth to judge earnings quality
  • Review multi-quarter and multi-year earnings trends in one place
  • Pair EPS strength with sales, profit, and institutional activity for a fuller view
  • Monitor next earnings timing when preparing for a new earnings catalyst

Filters Applied

This profile applies two filters to keep the results focused on liquid, tradeable common shares:

  • Ticker Type = Common Shares: Excludes ETFs, ETNs, REITs, and other non-common-share instruments.
  • Liquidity Rating > 70: Keeps the universe limited to names with strong liquidity, better execution quality, and higher market participation.

These filters ensure the profile remains focused on earnings analysis across stocks with cleaner trading conditions.

Metrics Used

EPS Growth and Earnings Ratings

  • EPS Rating: Measures relative earnings strength using both recent momentum and longer-term growth, making it useful for ranking earnings leaders and laggards.
  • EPS Growth - Latest Quarter (%), EPS Growth - 2Q Ago (%), EPS Growth - 3Q Ago (%): Show year-over-year EPS growth across recent reported quarters, helping you track how earnings momentum is evolving.
  • EPS Growth - Next Quarter Forward (%), EPS Growth - 2Q Forward (%), EPS Growth - 3Q Forward (%): Show analyst-based forward EPS expectations and help identify whether momentum is expected to strengthen or weaken.
  • Avg. EPS Growth - 3 Years (%): Adds a longer-term view of earnings consistency rather than focusing only on the latest quarter.
  • Avg. EPS Growth - 3 Years Forward (%): Smooths forward expectations to help judge whether projected EPS growth looks sustainable.

Institutional and Composite Context

  • Accumulation/Distribution Score: Helps confirm whether price and volume behavior are supporting the earnings story through signs of accumulation or distribution.
  • MarketAlpha Rating: Adds a broader technical and fundamental view, useful when you want to compare pure EPS strength with overall stock quality.
  • Sales Rating, Profit Rating: Provide supporting context, since stronger earnings trends are often more reliable when revenue growth and profitability are also improving.

Timing and Performance Context

  • Next Earnings In Days: Helps you track how close the next report is, which is useful for preparing for event risk or volatility.
  • 52 Week High (%): Shows how close the stock is to a major breakout area, which often matters when earnings momentum is improving.
  • Return Year to Date (%): Adds price-performance context, helping separate steady compounders from newer momentum names.
  • Dollar Volume Rank: Keeps the most liquid and actively watched names near the top for easier exploration.

Default Sorting Logic

Results are sorted by Dollar Volume Rank (ascending) to keep the most liquid and actively traded names at the top.
