Earnings Table Walkthrough

The Earnings Table gives you a structured view of both historical and forecasted EPS and Sales data — with visual cues for growth, acceleration, and earnings surprises. It’s available across all Alpha Charts, including the Ticker Viewer, Sidebar Charts, and Main Charts, by clicking the Open Earnings Table button.

This table is only available for companies with verified earnings data.

Quarterly vs. Annual Views

You can toggle between Quarterly and Annual earnings data using the switch above the table.

  • Quarterly = shows upcoming and past quarters
  • Annual = shows full-year results and projections

A shaded vertical divider marks the separation between historical and forecasted data.

Reading the Table

Each row shows either Earnings (EPS) or Sales data.
Each column represents a quarter or year, depending on the selected view.

EPS (Earnings Per Share)

  • $ Values display reported or projected EPS
  • % Growth below each value represents earnings expansion

EPS Growth Logic:

  • Quarterly Table = EPS growth is calculated Year-over-Year (YoY)
    • Example: 2024 Q2 is compared to 2023 Q2
  • Annual Table = EPS growth is also YoY
    • Example: 2024 full year is compared to 2023 full year

We do not show quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) growth, as it may be seasonally misleading. YoY comparisons ensure consistency and reliability when assessing earnings performance or forecasting momentum.

Forecasted EPS growth uses average analyst estimates. EPS growth uses adjusted (non-GAAP) results, excluding one-time items.

Sales

  • $ Values show actual or estimated revenue
  • % Growth represents revenue expansion over time

Sales Growth Logic:

  • Quarterly View → Year-over-Year (YoY)
    • Each quarter is compared to the same quarter one year earlier
  • Annual View → Year-over-Year
    • Each full year is compared to the previous full year

Like EPS, sales growth is always based on YoY change — this avoids distortions due to seasonal patterns and gives a more accurate picture of whether revenue is accelerating.

Acceleration & Deceleration

Background colors reflect growth momentum over time:

  • Green background = Acceleration
    • Growth rate is improving across recent quarters or years
  • Red background = Deceleration
    • Growth rate is declining across recent quarters or years

This helps quickly identify companies that are gaining or losing financial momentum.

You’ll find them in:

  • Earnings - Yearly
  • Sales - Quarterly
  • Sales - Yearly

This makes it easy to screen for accelerating companies, earnings surprises, strong forecast growth, or consistent revenue performers — all in real time.
