General

The General category provides core reference data about each ticker, combining identity, classification, and structural attributes with dynamic metadata like earnings flags, analyst ratings, liquidity ranks, and market status.

These fields help define the context in which a security trades—essential for filtering, segmenting, and aligning strategies across capitalization tiers, industries, geographies, and trading characteristics. Whether screening for new IPOs, high-beta stocks, or ESG-conscious opportunities, this section builds the foundation for informed selection.

Dollar Volume Rank

Ranks each ticker based on total dollar volume, calculated as a 3 month average turnover (Price x Volume). This composite measure captures both price level and trade activity to assess how much capital is flowing through a stock.

A lower rank (e.g., 1) indicates the highest dollar volume relative to all other tickers on the platform, suggesting elevated investor attention and strong liquidity. A higher rank implies lower relative participation.

This metric serves as a proxy for crowd focus and real-time sentiment, helping identify which stocks are attracting the most interest. It's commonly used as the default sorting method in MarketAlpha to surface the most actively traded names.
