The Return Year to Date profile zooms out from the daily noise and colors the whole market by how each stock has performed since the start of the year. Grouped by sector and industry and sized by market capitalization, it shows the year's real story: which groups have led, which have lagged, and how uniform the performance is inside each one.

Metrics Behind the Map​

  • Market Capitalization ($): The total dollar value of a company's outstanding shares, so the map weights each stock the way the market does.
  • Return Year to Date (%): The percentage change from the year open to the current last price. Green marks the year's gainers, red its losers, with deeper shades for bigger moves.

Practical Use Cases​
