Relative Strength 1 Day

Overview

The Relative Strength 1 Day profile colors the market by today's Relative Strength rating: a live 1-to-99 rank of each stock's intraday performance against every other tracked symbol, adjusted for whichever session is running, pre-market, regular hours, or post-market. Grouped by sector and industry and sized by market cap, it shows exactly who is leading and who is lagging right now.

The advantage over a plain percent-change map is normalization. On a day when everything is up 2%, percent change looks uniformly green, but the RS rating still separates the true leaders from the names merely drifting with the tide.

info

The 1-day rating adapts to the current session automatically, so this map works before the open, during the day, and after the close. It updates in real time.

Strategy Focus

  • Identify today's true leaders and laggards, normalized against the whole market
  • See which industries dominate the day's leadership
  • Separate stocks outperforming the tape from those just riding it
  • Find intraday short candidates among the day's clear underperformers
  • Follow session-by-session leadership from pre-market through the close

Map Configuration

  • Main Category: Sectors
  • Sub Category: Industries
  • Box Size: Market Capitalization ($)
  • Box Color: Relative Strength 1 Day

Metrics Behind the Map

  • Market Capitalization ($): The total dollar value of a company's outstanding shares, keeping the market's real weighting.
  • Relative Strength 1 Day: Ranks each ticker's intraday price performance against all others, adjusted for the pre-market, regular, or post-market session. Scores run from 1 to 99, where 99 means the stock is outperforming 99% of tracked symbols today.

Practical Use Cases

  • Open this map mid-session to find where today's leadership is concentrated
  • On broad up days, use the rating to separate real leaders from tide-riders
  • Spot an industry cluster of high ratings and trade group momentum rather than a single name
  • Combine with Relative Volume to confirm leaders have volume behind them
  • Cross-check leaders against Relative Strength 1 Year to find today's movers with long-term trends behind them
