Columns & Sorting
MarketAlpha lets you fully customize the screener table by controlling which columns are shown, how they're ordered, and how they are sorted. These changes apply instantly and are saved when you save a screener profile.
Adding & Removing Columns
To manage columns:
- Click the Columns Sidebar button in the top toolbar
- Browse metrics by folder or search for a specific one
- Click to add or remove — active columns are highlighted
- The screener table updates instantly
Use the Active Columns folder to quickly see what is currently shown and remove unwanted columns in one click.
Rearranging Columns
You can rearrange columns in two ways:
- Directly on the table: Hover over the column header, then click and drag it to a new position
- Inside the Columns Sidebar: Go to the Active Columns folder and use the 6-dot drag handle to rearrange column order within your saved layout
Both methods let you fully customize the order of metrics shown. Changes apply instantly and are saved with your screener profile.
Sorting Columns
You can sort any column in two ways:
- Left-click the column header to toggle ascending / descending / off
- Right-click for a dropdown menu to sort or remove the column
You can only sort by one column at a time, and the active sort column is always marked with an arrow icon.
Expanding Column Headers
To reveal the full name of any column:
- Double-click the right edge of the column header
- This expands the column width to show the complete metric name
This is especially useful when:
- The metric label is long or abbreviated
- The data inside the cell does not fit in the default width
Tooltips
Hover over any column title or cell to see helpful tooltip definitions explaining:
- What the metric means
- What the current value represents
- How to interpret it in context
These tooltips are available in all screener views, including compact mode.
Summary
The Screener is designed to be fully customizable. Use the Columns Sidebar to add any metric, sort and rearrange columns to fit your workflow, and use tooltips to better understand what each number means. Your layout changes are saved with your profile so you can keep your setup consistent.
