Compact vs Full Mode
The Ticker Screener offers two layout modes for the main table: Compact Mode and Full Mode. You can switch between them using the toggle button in the top bar.
Each mode affects how much information is shown in the first column (the Ticker column) and how many tickers fit on one screen.
Compact Mode
Compact Mode shows only the ticker symbol along with a few key icons. This is ideal when:
- You want to scan a large list quickly
- You’re focused on filtering or sorting rather than context
- Screen space is limited (e.g. smaller monitor or laptop)
Icons Displayed in Compact Mode
- Purple Star → Ticker has a Top Alpha Setup
- Green Flag → Earnings reported before today’s open or after yesterday’s close
- Red Flag → Upcoming earnings after today’s close or before tomorrow’s open
Compact Mode allows more tickers to be visible per page by hiding extended metadata.
Full Mode
Full Mode displays more context in the Ticker column, including:
- Ticker symbol and full company name
- Market capitalization type (e.g. Large Cap)
- Industry and theme tags
- Ticker type (e.g. ETF, ETN, Common Stock)
- Additional icons for quick reference
Icons and Tags in Full Mode
- Purple Star → Top Alpha Setup
- Orange Star → Low liquidity (Liquidity Score < 60 or wide spread)
- Green Flag / Red Flag → Earnings status
- IPO → Company has been traded for fewer than 200 days
- FRN → Foreign-listed company (e.g. ADR)
- Decimal Value → Market Beta (5Y)
- Green Triangle → Daily close in top 10% of range
- Red Triangle → Daily close in bottom 10% of range
These icons help you visually scan for special conditions, risks, and opportunities.
Trade-Offs
- Full Mode shows more insight per row but fits fewer tickers on screen
- Compact Mode maximizes scanning speed but shows less contextual detail
Use Full Mode for research, sorting, and visual filtering — and switch to Compact Mode when scanning broad setups or optimizing for speed.
Summary
Choose the layout that matches your workflow. Use Compact Mode for speed and density, and Full Mode for deeper context and ticker-level insight. You can switch anytime using the toggle in the toolbar.
