Filter Logic & Presets

MarketAlpha lets you build powerful filter combinations using simple controls — no coding required. By combining presets with flexible AND/OR logic, you can screen for highly specific conditions across any metric.

Filter Presets

Most filters come with one or more presets — predefined conditions you can apply instantly.

Examples include:

  • “Above EMA 20”
  • “RSI 14 < 30”
  • “Liquidity Rating > 70”
  • “Gap From Close > 2%”
  • “Top Alpha Setup = Yes”
  • “EPS Growth Rate > 5%”

You can apply a preset and then modify it freely. Presets are a fast way to build filters without needing to set conditions manually.

Using presets is the fastest way to get started — especially when exploring a new metric or strategy.

Filter Groups

Each set of filters is part of a group. You can add multiple groups and name them however you like.

Each group has a logic toggle at the top — you can set it to:

  • AND → All filters in that group must be valid
  • OR → At least one filter in that group must be valid

You can add, delete, rename, or reorder groups at any time.

AND vs OR Logic

AND

Use when you want all filters to be true for a result to match.

Example:

  • AI Strategy = Long
  • Liquidity Rating > 70
  • Gap < -1%

All 3 must be true for a ticker to appear in the results.

OR

Use when only one of the filters must be true.

Example:

  • RSI 14 < 30
  • RSI Divergence Days = 2
  • Price at Support = Yes

This returns any ticker that meets at least one of those conditions.

Between Group Logic

Between groups, logic is always treated as AND.

This means:

  • Every active group must return true
  • Inside each group, you control whether filters are evaluated as AND or OR

This gives you highly customizable screening power — for example:

  • Group 1 (structure): AI Strategy = Long AND Liquidity > 70
  • Group 2 (volume): Relative Volume > 1.5 OR Volume > 500K
  • Group 3 (behavior): Gap < -2% AND RSI < 40

All three groups must match, but you can vary the logic within each group.

Summary

Presets let you apply powerful filters instantly. Group logic gives you control over how filters interact — allowing you to layer structure, volume, behavior, and technicals with clarity. Use AND/OR logic to refine your strategy and build custom screeners with precision.
